Deer Park Tribune

Amber S. King – Creative Design partnered with the Deer Park Tribune to create a modern digital publishing platform for this long-standing community newspaper serving Deer Park, Spokane County, and the surrounding region. The goal was to build a professional, easy-to-navigate website that could support local news publishing, community submissions, classified ads, events, obituaries, advertising, and ongoing editorial updates.

The new website was built in Wix Studio with a custom publishing structure designed for real newsroom use. The site includes organized article categories, dynamic content layouts, community submission options, advertising pathways, an events calendar, classifieds, obituaries, announcements, and clear navigation for readers looking for local news and community updates.

This project required balancing the needs of a traditional local newspaper with the expectations of modern online readers. Content needed to be easy to publish, easy to find, and easy to manage behind the scenes, while still preserving the trusted community feel of the Deer Park Tribune brand.

Technical and editorial enhancements included CMS-based news categories, structured submission forms, advertising placement areas, mobile-responsive layouts, SEO foundations, custom navigation, and digital publishing workflows that allow the publication to continue growing online.

Impact:

Since launching, the Deer Park Tribune website has already begun showing strong early engagement, with 892 site sessions and 643 unique visitors. Of those visitors, 99% were new, showing that the website is helping introduce the publication to a broader online audience. Traffic is also balanced across devices, with 55% of sessions from desktop and 44% from mobile, confirming the importance of building a site that works well for both traditional desktop readers and mobile users.

The Deer Park Tribune now has a centralized online platform that supports local journalism, community engagement, advertising, events, and public submissions in one cohesive system. The site provides a stronger foundation for digital publishing while helping the newspaper better serve readers, advertisers, and the broader Deer Park-area community.
